Synopsis

A new adaptation of Rachel Joyce's bestselling novel. Set in 1950, it is an adventure story following the story of frumpy spinster schoolteacher Margery Benson, who recklessly sets off to New Calendonia in the South Pacific to discover a golden beetle that may or may not exist. Accompanied by ditzy assistant Enid Pretty, and pursued by a dogged and unhinged policeman. Some swearing in the script. Set in 1950, the play depicts, and satirises, British colonial attitudes of the time. A replica handgun is used in the action of the play. A storm is depicted in the play, which will involve loud noises." Recommended age 11+
