Synopsis
On the threshold between labour and creation, body and mind blur in a quickening spiral.
Two workers harness their powers of creation to free themselves from eternal drudgery—beckoned to pioneer a new world.
But what is the cost of this uncharted future?
Taking inspiration from Celtic mythology and the monumental invention of the first passenger-carrying train, Locomotion No. 1, CARRIAGE is a physicalization of the euphoria of invention and a celebration of working-class ingenuity and effort - a contemporary folktale.
This is the first public performance of CARRIAGE, the debut show from emerging northern physical theatre company Resound Theatre.
Resound Theatre is a physical theatre company based and founded in the North. Starting from a concept or text, their shows are brought to life through a blend of object theatre, intuitive movement and original sound design to create ground-shaking theatrical experiences.
Commissioned by TeesDance and Creative Darlington (Darlington Borough Council). With generous support from Arts Council England, Sheffield Theatres, Darlington Hippodrome, and The Forum.
