Comedy Through Character
Using sections of the script from the Watermill's production of Charley's Aunt, explore how comedy can be achieved with a 21st century lens, looking a gender identity and the representation of characters onstage. Join members of our cast to learn key comedy performing skills, and have a laugh!
Character Design Workshop
Explore identity through the lens of a theatre designer. Create ideas for costume, hair and make-up linked to the Watermill's production of Charley's Aunt. This workshop will involve discussing the design process with one of the Watermill's designers, and creating some original concepts of your own.
Community Collage
Drop-in art workshops for young people and families, celebrating LGBTQI+ communities, in collaboration with Newbury Pride.
Artwork created will contribute towards a large collage that will be displayed in our local community.
Our Community Collage workshops are drop-in sessions. There is no need to book them, feel free to just turn up at the time!
A Place To Be You
A session, for LGBTQIA+ young people and those exploring their identiy to connect with others in a friendly, open and nuturing evironment. This fun drama-based session will be a safe space where individuality is celebrated and everyone is welcomed to be their true self.
Re-write The Text
Reimagine classic texts through a 21st century lens. Explore how to update themes and characters to reflect modern attitudes and values with a playwright, creating your own ideas an concepts for adaptations of famous stories!
Direct The Drama
Using the script of Charley's Aunt as a springboard, work with a Watermill director to explore representation onstage, creating and presenting relationships between characters. We will explore how the directing process works and participants will have an opportunity to direct sections of the script using the skills they learn in the session.
