Follow The Stars Christmas Carol Concert in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support has been a highlight of Oxford’s Christmas calendar for the past 28 years. Once again it will take place in Christ Church Cathedral on Friday 5th December offering magnificent musical performances and festive readings by a host of celebrities – truly an unmissable start to the festive season and in such a worthy cause. This year we are thrilled to be joined by the celebrated actors ABIGAIL THAW, SALLY PHILLIPS and BEN BAILEY SMITH, and broadcasting legend ANGELA RIPPON. Additionally we are particularly delighted to be joined by SOPHIE BEVAN MBE who is widely celebrated as one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation. Sophie herself was treated for cancer a few years ago, so her involvement with this Macmillan fund-raising event has particular resonance. The music will be performed by Oxford’s pre-eminent vocal ensemble, the fantastic OXFORD BACH SOLOISTS, conducted by Steven Grahl, the Director of Music at Trinity College Cambridge. Since the inaugural concert in 1996, we have raised £913,151 for Macmillan through ticket sales and the generous support of the event’s sponsors – 100% of everything we raise goes directly to improve the outcome and survival rates of those living with cancer.
