Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Colson Whitehead, this gorgeously cinematic drama is immersively told from the point of view of the main character. In 1962, Elwood Curtis, a young African-American boy, is sent to the notorious Nickel Academy reform school after he is falsely accused of a crime. While there, he meets a boy named Turner, and the two form a close friendship as they try to survive the horrors of the school and its corrupt administrators.
