Synopsis
Tom Jenkins hails from the hills of the South Wales valleys. A shepherd and Hill farmer by trade, he has woven the post-industrial landscape and the stories of the working class communities into a tapestry of unique, traditionally crafted songs, originally inspired by his family of Coal Miners and Farmers, with the stories of these Hills and beyond being captured in his most anticipated album so far - 'When The Coal Dust Settled' set to be released in April 2025.
His 2019 self- released debut, 'Misery In Comfort' written in the solitude of the New Zealand back country as a working Shepherd and Sheep Shearer, was put out as nothing more than a passion project and a one off but instantly caught the attention of the music industry and his musical heroes, gaining him a personal invite to tour with American, Grammy and Oscar winning, Singer Songwriter and Yellowstone star Ryan Bingham from the off, then followed by signing a record deal and landing big booking agency opportunities.
This then led to a heavy live schedule, touring and opening for the likes of Bastille, Country music mega star, Megan Moroney, Frank Turner, Cardinal Black and Skinny Lister to name a few and proving his unique, authentic mix of Indie, Country- Folk could cut it with a mix of genres along with critical acclaim from the the music press, gaining him Huw Stephens' (BBC Radio Wales/ 6 Music) Artist and album of the week.
The struggles of holding down a large working hill farm and continuously releasing music has taken it’s toll in the last 5 years but Tom Jenkins has a story like no other and has proven himself as a hard grafting, gritty Singer-Songwriter.
